Oakbank is very special to our family. It’s our home, our business, and our future. We’re proud to call this community ours, and we really hope that you’ll become our neighbours!
This is a great place to live! We have wonderful schools, parks, and tons to do. The town is located just 20 minutes east of Winnipeg, so commuting is easy and shopping is close. It’s the best of both worlds: small town charm, with all of the amenities of Winnipeg just a few minutes away!
Should you want to avoid heading into the big city, Selkirk is just 25 minutes north, or you can just shop in town! Oakbank is growing, and we now have almost everything you need: two gas bars, multiple restaurants, a hardware store, Subway, Tim Hortons, two grocery stores (one with a build in Liquor Mart), and a couple banking options will mean that trips out of town can be as rare (or as frequent) as you’d like them to be.
In the summer time, nearby Birds Hill Park really shines. The Winnipeg Folk Festival brightens our town, as we welcome visitors from across the country and all over the world. The beach, hiking trails, bike paths, and picnic areas in the park are just 10 minutes outside of Oakbank and will no doubt become a highlight of your summer. Our small town has a number of parks for your kids to play in, and a ton of sports options as well. The soccer fields and baseball diamonds in town are always in full swing!
Winter in Oakbank is just as fabulous. Birds Hill Park provides hiking, and fun for the snow lovers. When the temperature dips, our community arena comes alive with hockey practices, figure skating, and family skating. We have an outdoor rink that can be used 24 hours a day, skating on the pond in front of our Municipal offices, and the hundreds of kilometers of snowmobile trails.
Oakbank has been our home for over 25 years and we know that you’ll love it as much as we do!
